About Aquarius Horoscopes

Aquarius is an astrological sign which originated from the constellation Aquarius, and is the eleventh sign of the zodiac. Aquarius is a positive or masculine, extrovert sign; its element is air and its quality is fixed. Traditionally in astrology Aquarius is ruled by the planet Saturn, and, since its discovery, by the planet Uranus. Its opposite sign is Leo. Under the tropical zodiac, Aquarius is occupied by the Sun from January 20 to February 19. Under the sidereal zodiac, Aquarius is occupied currently from February 13 to March 14. The Hindu equivalent of Aquarius is Kumbha. The Chinese equivalent is thought to be the unpredictable, charismatic Tiger, whose lunar month is 4 February - 5 March. Aquarians are thought to be compatible with Geminis and Libras.

The corresponding month in the Babylonian calendar is Arax Šabaṭu, "the destroying month", also called arax arrat zunne, "month of the curse of rains", associated with the Great Flood. It is dedicated to Ramman, the storm god. The zodiacal sign of this month was called GU = Assyrian qâ, the name of a dry-measure. This was associated with Hebrew kad, "pitcher, jar", presumably in reference to the urn of Aquarius. The name Aquarius of this sign is of occidental origin, while Babylonian astrology symbolizes it with a simple amphora, in reference to the apsû (diluvial) region of the sky.

In mythology Aquarius is often associated with the mythological figure of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, from the Greek myth of the Trojan War. Aquarius is also associated with the Greco-Roman titans Uranus/Caelus, Cronus/Saturn and Promethius. In Grecian mythology, Aquarius is the constellation that was once Ganymede, cupbearer of the gods. The astrological symbol for Aquarius is said to represent waves or ripples of water. In medical astrology Aquarius governs the circulatory and nervous systems, as well as the ankles.

Astrologers broadly agree that the following are the characteristics of Aquarius: unconventional, detached, intellectual, objective, individualistic, inventive, unique, easygoing, sophisticated, future-oriented, friendship-oriented, humanitarian, cause-oriented, believing in groups and society, playful, friendly, spontaneous, caring, devoted, trend setting, understanding, energetic, tolerant, free-spirited, independent, open-minded, progressive.
